Raku

With my ceramics teacher Javier and his wife Anita, we had an afternoon of doing RAKU.  Basically the pieces are heated to about 1000 degrees C (1832 degrees F).  We take them out of the hot oven and place them in a bed of saw dust.  Cover with more saw dust, and then place a lid on it.  The sawdust and smoke causes the glazes to react in their own unique way.
